Born in Sapporo and raised there until high school, he lived in Hawaii from ages 3 to 7. He went on to study at Keio University's Faculty of Environment and Information Studies. While appearing in short films during his studies, he pursued a career as an actor from 2013 and studied briefly at the New York Film Academy.
Following his role as Mifune in NHK's Kyoto regional drama Wonderwall (2018), he went on to appear in films including Hana-Ori, We'll Meet Again One Day, and Everything I See Is the World. Regardless of genre, his commitment to deeply engaging with each work's atmosphere has earned high praise from directors and co-stars.
A quiet intensity shaped by Japan's landscapes, combined with an inner strength born from that quietness. He holds a conviction to live sincerely in "this very moment" as it appears on screen, and continues to expand into international co-productions and serious drama.
His lead role in Utakata earned him the Best Actor Award at the 2024 International Avant-Garde Film Awards. He was nominated in the domestic feature film category at the 2023 SKIP City International D-Cinema Festival, and his work has received wide acclaim from the international film community.
